We have celebrated Elders’ Day on Sunday, August 2, 2026, with love, gratitude and respect for the elderly members of the parish. The programme was organized by the Spandan Women’s Forum in association with the Commission for Unity, following the Holy Mass.
The Holy Mass was celebrated by the Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Anil Prakash D’Silva, along with Deacon Wilfred Steven Rodrigues. Following the Mass, the Elders’ Day celebration began with a prayer, seeking God’s blessings upon all the elders and participants.
The children of the parish presented a beautiful welcome dance, adding joy and warmth to the occasion. Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Anil Prakash D’Silva shared a thoughtful and inspiring message, highlighting the importance of respecting, caring for and valuing the elderly in our families and society.
Mrs. Nancy Pinto served as the resource person and delivered an informative session on the social and economic needs of elders, emphasizing their valuable role and contribution to the family and community. The celebration became more meaningful as the elders themselves shared their life journeys, experiences and valuable lessons, offering younger generations wisdom and inspiration.
A variety of entertainment activities were organized especially for the elders, creating an atmosphere of happiness and togetherness. As a token of love and appreciation, mementos were presented to all the elders. Mrs. Dimple D’Souza delivered the welcome address, while Mrs. Vivita Rodrigues proposed the vote of thanks. Mrs. Sevrin D’Souza served as the Master of Ceremonies. The celebration was a heartfelt expression of gratitude for the elders, recognizing them as a precious source of wisdom, faith and inspiration for generations to come.
