On 3 August 2025, following the 8:30 am Mass, our parish came together in a spirit of gratitude and joy to celebrate the World Day of Grandparents and the Elderly along with the Jubilee of Priests. The event was organized in association with ‘Spandan’ Women’s Forum, the Commission for Women, Commission for Family, and Commission for Vocation and Formation.
The celebration began with a warm welcome for all attendees, accompanied by breakfast. This was followed by an opening prayer, setting a reverent tone for the day. Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Anil Prakash D’Silva, Church Vice President Mr. Praveen Noel Monteiro, Secretary Mrs. Veena Madtha, and all commission heads led by Mrs. Winnifred D'souza were present. The resource person for the event, Miss Vilma Strella, also joined in the celebration. Mrs. Dimple D'souza, President of ‘Spandan’ Women’s Forum, extended a heartfelt welcome through her opening address. This was followed by an inspiring message from Rev. Fr. Anil Prakash D’Silva.
The keynote talk on “Good Health Maintenance” was delivered by Miss. Vilma Strella, offering valuable insights for the elderly to maintain a healthy and fulfilling lifestyle. Long-standing parishioners Mr. Rafael Strella and Mrs. Jecintha D’Souza then shared their reflections on their remarkable 60-year life journey, inspiring everyone with their faith and perseverance. A special moment of the celebration was the honoring of Rev. Fr. Anil Prakash D’Silva on the occasion of the Jubilee of Priests, with parishioners expressing their love and appreciation.
Fun and joy followed as Mrs. Babitha D’souza conducted engaging games for the elderly. Rev. Fr. Anil Prakash D’silva personally distributed prizes to the winners, creating cherished moments of laughter and fellowship. Each elderly participant was honored and presented with a token of remembrance as a mark of respect and gratitude for their wisdom and contributions to the community.
The program concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by Mrs. Florine Rego, Secretary of ‘Spandan’ Women’s Forum. The day was a true celebration of faith, gratitude, and community spirit, leaving all who attended with fond memories and renewed joy.
