International Women’s Day was celebrated with devotion and compassion on Sunday, March 8, 2026, at our church. The day began with the morning Holy Mass, during which special prayers were offered for the intentions and well-being of women. After the Mass, the Parish Priest extended his greetings to all the women and appreciated their important role in families, the Church, and society.
As part of the celebration, the Spandan Sthree Sangatan organized a meaningful programme with the inmates of Prashanth Nivas Orphanage. The members visited the orphanage at 4:00 PM and spent time with the inmates, sharing the joy of the occasion. Prior to the visit, the members of the association had collected contributions and used the funds to purchase groceries, which were donated to the orphanage as a gesture of care and support. The programme included games for the inmates, followed by prize distribution for the winners.
The members of Spandan Sthree Sangatan also entertained the inmates with action songs and other lively performances, creating a joyful and engaging atmosphere for everyone present. Addressing the gathering, Fr. Anil Prakash D'Silva, Parish Priest and Director of the association, encouraged everyone to continue acts of compassion and service. Sr. Jessy Joseph also conveyed her Women’s Day wishes.
The programme was led by Association President Mrs. Dimple D'Souza, who welcomed the gathering. Mrs. Saritha Strella delivered the vote of thanks, while Mrs. Babitha D'Souza compered the programme. The event was attended by Deacon Wilfred Steevan Rodrigues, the sisters of the convent, and other dignitaries.
