September 8, 2025 – The parishioners of our Church gathered with deep faith and devotion to celebrate the Feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The celebration began early in the morning at 8:15 am, as devotees assembled in the church premises to mark this auspicious occasion.
The ceremony commenced with the blessing of the new paddy, symbolizing the gift of new food and harvest, led by Rev. Fr. Ashok D’souza. Following the blessing, devotees lovingly offered flowers to Mother Mary, expressing gratitude and reverence. After the floral offerings, the faithful joined in a solemn procession and entered the church, preparing their hearts for the festive Eucharistic celebration.
The Holy Mass was presided over by Rev. Fr. Anil Prakash D’silva as the main celebrant, with Rev. Fr. Ashok D'souza, S.V.D concelebrating. During the Mass, Fr. Ashok delivered an inspiring homily, reflecting on the virtues of Mother Mary and the importance of living a life of faith and devotion.
Towards the end of the celebration, Fr. Anil Prakash D’silva extended heartfelt gratitude to children, elders, devotees, and sponsors who contributed to the success of the nine-day novena leading up to the feast. The blessed paddy was then ceremoniously handed over to the Parish Pastoral Commission members by Fr. Anil and later distributed to the devotees through the ward heads, symbolizing unity, sharing, and thanksgiving.
After the Holy Mass, in the church portico, prizes were distributed to the winners of the Singing Competition conducted by Catholic Sabha, Kokkada unit and to the Altar Boys for participating and winning Altor Decoration Competition, acknowledging their creativity and active participation in parish activities.
To mark the joy of the feast, sugarcane was distributed to all devotees, a gesture beautifully coordinated by the ICYM members, spreading happiness and togetherness among the parish community. The entire celebration was a beautiful blend of faith, tradition, and festivity, uniting the parishioners in gratitude and joy. The Feast of the Nativity served as a reminder of Mother Mary’s blessings and the importance of coming together as one family in Christ.
