On September 21, 2025, the ICYM Kokkada Unit and YCS jointly organized a grand celebration to mark the Silver Jubilee and “Gadyanth Ek Dees” programme at St. John the Baptist Church, Kokkada. The day’s events began with the Holy Mass, followed by the formal programme at 11:00 a.m., commencing with an opening prayer led by ICYM and YCS members.
The dignitaries and invited guests were warmly welcomed by Mr. Pradeep D’Souza, President of ICYM Kokkada Unit. The programme was presided over by Rev. Fr. Anil Prakash D’Silva, Parish Priest of Kokkada Church, who conveyed his blessings and good wishes to the gathering. The inauguration ceremony was carried out by Rev. Fr. Sunil Praveen Pinto, Puttur Deanery Director, through the traditional lighting of the lamp. In his address, he highlighted the significance of celebrating milestones such as the Silver Jubilee, reminding the youth about their responsibility to uphold faith, unity, and service within the parish and society.

The celebration took a memorable turn with a cake-cutting ceremony, symbolizing the 25 years of ICYM’s vibrant journey at Kokkada. Adding to the spirit of gratitude, all past presidents of ICYM from 2000 to 2025 were felicitated, honoring their tireless dedication and selfless service to the youth and parish community.
A highlight of the programme was the unique and creative cultural segment. ICYM and YCS members staged a march past in the parish field along with buffaloes, which drew loud applause and appreciation from the crowd for its originality and spirit of festivity. Another attraction was the participation of the Blue Brass Band from Badyar, whose melodious and energetic performance filled the atmosphere with joy and grandeur.
To further enrich the day, a variety of traditional games were organized for participants from the six parish wards. These games not only brought in elements of fun and laughter but also helped foster unity, teamwork, and healthy competition among parishioners. Children, youth, and adults alike participated enthusiastically, ensuring that the celebration was as inclusive as it was entertaining.
The event was efficiently compered by Chris, whose lively anchoring kept the programme engaging and well-coordinated. The final moments of the celebration were marked by a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by Ms. Felcy Monteiro, Secretary of ICYM, who expressed deep gratitude to the clergy, dignitaries, animators, organizers, sponsors, and all participants for their invaluable contributions. She acknowledged the hard work of ICYM and YCS members in ensuring that the Silver Jubilee and “Gadyanth Ek Dees” celebration was a resounding success.
