Our parish joyfully celebrated Catechism Day on 22-02-2026 after the Holy Mass, marking a meaningful occasion of gratitude, encouragement, and appreciation for catechism teachers and children.
The programme began with a prayer song by the catechism teachers, setting a reverent and prayerful tone for the celebration. Mrs. Jeneview Fernandes delivered the welcome address, warmly greeting the Parish Priest, Deacon, guests, parents, teachers, and children. This was followed by a graceful welcome dance by the primary school girls, which added colour and joy to the programme.
The annual catechism report was presented by the former coordinator, Mrs. Severin D’souza, highlighting the various activities, achievements, and the spiritual growth of the children throughout the year. In recognition of her dedicated service as coordinator, the catechism teachers honoured Mrs. Severin D’souza with a token of appreciation. Mrs. Severin D’souza delivered a heartfelt speech, sharing her experiences and encouraging the children to grow in faith and values.
This was followed by an inspiring message by Rev. Fr. Anil Prakash D’silva, who appreciated the sincere efforts of the catechism teachers and motivated the children to remain rooted in Christian values and active participation in parish life. The children then presented cultural programmes, showcasing their talents through songs and dances, which were well appreciated by the gathering.
Prize distribution was held for students who secured 100% attendance and those who won first and second prizes in the annual examinations. Consolation prizes were distributed to all the children in view of the 'Year of Children 2026', encouraging every child to grow in faith and learning. As a gesture of gratitude, the Parish Priest presented gifts to all the catechism teachers. In a thoughtful personal gesture, Mrs. Saritha Strella also thanked the teachers by distributing chocolates.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Master Stany Antony Suvaris, while Mrs. Apolin Martis compered the event. Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Anil Prakash D’silva, Deacon Wilfred Stevan Rodrigues, Secretary Ms. Laveena D’souza, all commission head Ms. Winnifred Clara D’Souza, parents, Catholic Sabha members, and parishioners were present for the programme. Breakfast was served to all present, and the celebration concluded on a joyful and memorable note.
